Meet the Pastor
Rev. Deborah Patterson is the current pastor of The Brook UMC in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Before serving at The Brook, she served as the pastor of the Brookgreen Charge (three churches) in Myrtle Beach, Bethel UMC, and St. Paul's UMC, both in Greer, SC.

Rev. Patterson holds a Master's Degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center, Gammon Theological Seminary, Atlanta, where she was the recipient of the prestigious Solon Patterson Academic and Marion Ballard Achievement Award. In addition, she has a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville and a bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Benedict College, where she graduated Cum Laude. Rev. Patterson is a Provisional Elder in the United Methodist Church and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Rev. Patterson has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, preaching and teaching the word of God at churches, conferences, workshops, and other related events. In addition to ministry, she has worked extensively as a Clinical Therapist. She has served as a Director for Community Long Term Care. She has worked for Duke University, the North Carolina School System, the North Carolina Department of Social Services, and the United States Department of Veteran Affairs.

As part of her outreach ministry, Rev. Patterson has taught the Word of God on radio programs in the United States and the Philippines. In addition, she was the Chairperson and founding member of The Woman of Faith, a Christian Woman Organization that taught the Word of God and transformed the lives of women and families throughout the country.

Rev. Patterson has one adult daughter, Grace Anna, who resides in the DMV area.
She firmly believes that in this day and time, God is calling on the body of Christ to act as one body walking together in love.
